Social Anxiety is anxiety about social situations, environments and interactions with others. It also applies to being observed, evaluated or judged by other people. People go through emotions such as fear, nervousness, apprehension, worry and other forms of emotional discomfort.
There are different degrees of social anxiety. Some people are afraid of certain locations while others are afraid of leaving their house. For most people, social anxiety plays a role in childhood, where meeting new people is a new and sometimes scary thing.
Some people become more and more shy till they develop social anxiety. When social anxiety becomes severe, it can really debilitate people in their daily life. At those times, it can be very difficult to get the needed help.
Anxiety is different for everyone. The causing factors are never the same. People differ in genetic make up, the environment they grow up in and their life experiences. These 3 factors combine to determine whether or not someone has anxiety.
Anxiety relief comes in the form of support groups and therapy. Anxiety medication is also available. With anxiety, it’s important to realize and find out what the causing factors are. When those are identified you can focus on working on them step by step.
Self-help is also possible and usually comes in the form of (e-) books, research on the internet and methods such as NLP.
Ya.. nlp can be VERY useful here. I think more benift can be done by finding the structure of how it works, interrupting it and patterning in something new.
